How Our Valve Seats Improve Your Industrial Processes

Valve Seating Ertalyte White Colored

Valve seats must fit within tolerances to work properly. But for industrial processes, valve seats must also withstand high temperatures, high pressures, and many classes of substances to work properly.

In fact, one of the main reasons valve seats fail is that manufacturers fail to understand the way materials behave at certain temperatures and pressures. Count on two valve seats from Roto-Disc® to solve various problems associated with traditional materials.

PEEK

PEEK (PolyEtherEtherKetone) comprises a linear, aromatic, semi-crystalline polymer that provides exceptional performance over a wide range of temperatures and extreme conditions. It works very well in environments above 450°F.

This substance has excellent strength, stiffness, and abrasion/cut-through resistance while maintaining a low coefficient of friction. It withstands a several kinds of acids, bases, hydrocarbons, and organic solvents and has low moisture absorption, including steam. PEEK could be used in thermoplastics production and petroleum refinement.

PEEK is widely regarded as one of the highest-performing thermoplastics in the world because of its wide temperature ranges in which it doesn’t break down, chip, crack, or corrode. Roto-Disc, Inc. offers this material with various reinforcing agents and is available in grades that are FDA-certified for food contact, making it perfect for cooking, mixing, steaming, and even freezing foods where systems undergo extreme temperature changes and many types of ingredients.

Ertalyte® PET-P

Ertalyte® PET-P represents an unreinforced, semi-crystalline thermoplastic polyester based on PET (polyethylene terephthalate). It is white in color and has exceptional wear resistance for valves that open and close quickly. Ertalyte® PET-P has excellent dimensional stability, high strength, and resistance to moderately acidic environments (like acetone).

It is Animal Derived Ingredient Free (ADIF), 3A compliant, and is Generally Regarded as Safe (GRAS) per FDA 21CFR177.1550. This seat material is the first non-PTFE-based material used in the sanitary Roto-Clean® valve line and provides an option for high-wear applications. You’ll find Ertalyte® PET-P in parts for food processing and equipment.
